DISTINGUISHED AWARDS PROGRAM
NOMINATIONS ARE OPEN YEAR ROUND!
Nominate outstanding alumni, deserving veterinarians, and those who have served the college in a special way. We need your help to bring deserving candidates to our attention for the Distinguished Awards Program.
The nomination period runs annually through October 1st for all categories. Awardees will be notified as late as the following Spring semester and are invited to attend commencement ceremonies to receive their award and recognition.
To nominate someone, please read the following information and follow the instructions (at the bottom) to submit your nomination.
AWARD CATEGORIES
- ALUMNI ACHIEVEMENT AWARD – DVM
Nominees must be a graduate of the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine (DVM). The recipient of this award has demonstrated outstanding personal or professional contributions, and has provided a positive example of UF-CVM alumni, in one or more of the following ways:
– Professional achievements in veterinary science or one of its branches
– Service to the community and the advancement of animal welfare; and or
– Outstanding service to the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine
- ALUMNI ACHIEVEMENT AWARD – MS/PhD
Nominees must be a graduate of the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine (MS, PhD). The recipient of this award has demonstrated outstanding personal or professional contributions, and has provided a positive example of UF-CVM alumni, in one or more of the following ways:
– Professional achievements in veterinary science or one of its branches;
– Service to the community and the advancement of animal welfare; and or
– Outstanding service to the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine
- DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD
Nominees must hold a DVM or PhD (not necessarily from the University of Florida). The recipient of this award must demonstrate meritorious service to the profession of veterinary medicine through personal activities and professional accomplishments.
- SPECIAL SERVICE AWARD
Nominees must have demonstrated outstanding service to the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine. This individual’s contributions should demonstrate that he/she has positively impacted the college in one or more of its key roles in teaching, research, extension, and patient care.
- 40 GATORS UNDER 40 AWARD (FORMERLY OUTSTANDING YOUNG ALUMNI)– nomination closes Sept. 1st each year.
Nominees must have graduated from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine and be 40 years of age or younger. The recipient of this award has made a significant impact on their industry and have professional and/or civic accomplishments that serve to positively reflect upon the UF CVM. In addition to the college celebration of this award, this awardee is also celebrated at the 40 Gators Under 40 ceremony at main UF Campus
- HONORARY MEMBER OF THE ASSOCIATION of UF CVM ALUMNI
According to the Association of the UF CVM Alumni Constitution and By-laws, faculty members, residents, private practitioners, or others may be elected as honorary members by a member of the alumni council.

All nominations must be submitted by OCTOBER 1st. Any nominations received past the deadline will be considered for the following year.
Awardees will be notified in the Spring following their nomination.

All nominations must be RECEIVED by
OCTOBER 1st. Postmarked forms do not qualify as meeting the deadline and will be reviewed in the following award year.
